Handyman-Jack
of DIY Advice!
I'm a Handyman-Jack and if there is one thing I've
learned over the years it's that if you want to do-it-yourself... then
you just have to do-it! Not knowing HOW
to do something shouldn't stop you from attempting to do it. What it
takes is patience and perhaps a little research.
I can't remember a time I wasn't a handyman. At an
early age I would repair a tire tube or the chain on my bicycle, at 16
I researched and repaired my car... of course I didn't stop doing that
until years later when I could afford a car that didn't need repairing.
A few years later, I joined the Navy and went to
Engineman "A" school which taught me to repair Diesel engines. What I
found out later was that Engineman were required to fix lots of
different equipment on board the ships and that's
what began my love of fixing ALL things.
Enginman "A" school didn't teach us HOW
to fix all these things... just that we could if we applied our skills.
A repair manual didn't hurt either... if you can get one! These skills
aren't rocket science. Sometimes what you need is guidance and that's
what my goal is... to provide step-by-step guides and articles that
give you the information you're looking for to be able to
do-it-yourself.
This section focuses on any fix-it job that may or
may not fit into one of the obvious categories like DIY-Decks,
Privacy-Fences-ideas
or Lawn & Garden.
If you've got some skills or at least the
willingness to try new things then this section is for you. If you ask
me, 80% of fixing something is in the willingness to try. Information
is the 20% your confidence needs to do-it-yourself the right way, save
time, money and earn that wonderful feeling of job satisfaction once
you've successfully completed a job you never thought possible.
