Handyman
Infopreneur
How I Turned A Hobby Into An
Infopreneur Business
Being a handyman/DIY'er (an now infopreneur) I
can't tell you how often I've searched for answers to my DIY projects
via the Internet. I love the Internet and all the opportunities and new
businesses that have evolved because of it. More and more people are
looking to the Internet for information to help solve their problems.
I do it all the time! I guess I love the Internet as much as I love
fixing things.
During my kitchen remodel I researched every task
I was to undertake. What I often found were websites that under
delivered in the amount content they had on a subject.
Even though there were many sites offering the
same information creating a competitive "Web" environment I thought
there was room for one
that really offered the kind of step-by-step guides I was looking for.
My goal, which will set me apart from the competition, is to OVER
DELIVER when it comes to the content of my website. That's what I
learned from Site
Build It.
My First (Infopreneur) Attempt
at a website failed miserably! I had no idea how to write HTML, no clue
as
to what ANYTHING was when it came to building a site. I got sucked into
the "quick-cheap-easy" ads new people often fall prey to.
I soon found out that my hosting company lacked a
process, tools, and the
knowledge/SEO skills to help make me successful. When I did
reach-out to them I was instantly turned off by the "who cares"
attitude.
The results were predictable... My first attempt
failed! I have to admit however, it wasn't a complete failure. I
learned what NOT to do as a new web master and
infopreneur. Since this burning desire to be my own boss had been with
me since high school, I kept trying.
While I was researching for my first attempt I
came across Site
Build It
but decided on the cheap hosting because... well... it was cheap! As it
turns out I made a big mistake but hey, at least you don't have to
make the same mistakes I did. Keep reading if you want to learn more.
How
I Got Here... (My Second Website Attempt!)
I started this website in June of 2009.
The first six months were slow since I could only work on it an hour
(sometimes two) a day. I committed myself to the Site Build It system
which has awesome video and written step-by-step guides (I Love guides)
that take you every step of the way.
The tools they have are truly unbelievable. They
want you to succeed and "Over Deliver" with the help you need to get
there. Perfect for a Do-It-Yourself'er like me.
Fast Forward to month 7. My websites traffic grew
40% from the last month. In month 8 it grew 86%, month 9 160%. In my
10th month, my traffic has already grown 40% in 8 days! This "snowball
effect" is exactly what SBI said would happen and it's why I
Love SBI!
This is really exciting for me! The system is
working (As I write this)
so I'm going to give you monthly updates on the growth of my site!
I'm only about 1/3 of where I want to be in terms
of content so rather than make this page longer... I'm going to get
back to writing content! Thats what SBI preaches and thats my
commitment to you! Continue to OVER DELIVER great
content.
March 2010
Website
Traffic Growth Update!
Well, it's April 3rd and the total is in... My
website traffic has grown by over 55% from last month. That's not even
the exciting part! My April beginnings are on track to grow 100% from
March!
I love SBI At this rate, I may
have to start giving by-monthly
updates.
April 2010
Website Traffic Growth Update!
The last 4 months have been the most exciting
since the
traffic-growth snow-ball has started to roll. My website traffic more
than doubled again this month!
I can't believe how well the Site
Build It
system is working. All there is to it is to follow the system
they
lay out for you. I literally started with "NO" experience and in
less than a year, my growth has started to double exponentially. At
this rate
of growth I'll hit my goal of being able to rely on my websites
income, as my only income, in 6 to 8 more months!
May 2010
Website Traffic Growth Update!
Another month has gone by and the visitors just
keep coming!
I added 8 new pages to the site and my traffic has grown over
50% again! I'm very proud of the new
DIY-Shed
section so be sure to check it out. My plans for June include
adding more pages but I'm also launching my
"How to start a handyman business" book so keep an eye out for that.
Being an infopreneur is actually a lot of fun!
Make sure you come back often to see what's
happening.
